Trump, Biden Cruising Towards Rematch

0

President Joe Biden, D-D.E., and Former President Donald Trump, R-N.Y., each won almost all of the possible delegates up for grabs in their respective party primaries on Tuesday.

Trump won 14 of 15 states contested in the Republican primary, losing only Vermont to Nikki Haley R-S.C., who suspended her campaign on Wednesday. He also won the primary in American Samoa, a U.S. Territory.

In the Democratic primary, Biden won 15 of 15 states. However, he did lose the primary in American Samoa, with Jason Palmer, D-MD, winning the U.S. Territory’s contest.

Trump currently sits at 1,004 delegates, just over 200 shy of his party’s nomination, with no remaining challengers following Haley’s exit. Biden still has some work to do. He needs nearly 500 more delegates to secure the Democratic nod. However, he has just one remaining primary challenger, Marianne Williamson, D-T.X., who has yet to receive a delegate.

Tuesday’s results make a rematch of the 2020 presidential election increasingly likely, something that most Americans do not want. According to FiveThirtyEight, a centrist poll analysis website, Biden’s approval rating sits at 37.9 percent, while Trump’s favorability rating is at 43 percent.
