Bake Sale Raises Money for Palestine

0

On Tuesday the 15th, Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) held a bake sale for the people of Palestine and Lebanon. Proceeds from the sale will be going to four charities: Save the Children Palestine, which provides mental health support, essential supplies, and safe places for children to learn and play; a vetted GoFundMe list where you donate directly to people in need with issues ranging from medical care to evacuation; Save the Children Lebanon which provides essential supplies and safe places for children; and Lebanon Relief which also provides essential support and aid to the Lebanese people. Thanks to the support of theme houses and their baked goods, the sale raised over $800. Each charity will receive about $220 each.

On Friday the 25th, SJP threw another fundraiser. This time, art-related items like pins, drawings, shirts and a raffle basket were sold. These items came from theme houses and clubs. As of writing this article, the money has not been collected, but proceeds will go to different charities that support Palestine and Lebanon. They are: the United Nations Relief and Works Agency which helps people in Gaza by providing humanitarian support in the form of medicine, food, clean water, and other essentials; Muslim Aid USA is an organization that provides aid in times of crisis in the form of food aid, clean water, medical aid, education, and other humanitarian services; and ANERA which provides Lebanese families with medical care, winter clothing, bedding items, and hygiene kits.

SJP would like to thank the students, faculty, and staff who gave money to each fundraiser and who continue to support efforts to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian and Lebanese people.
