Fashion Trend Report for September

Slowly skipping into Fall, it is time to reflect on trends that could help you transition into the colder weather, while keeping you and your clothes interested in the process. The key is being able to take your current closet and rethink the usual pieces that find themselves together. Trying not to splurge on the “hottest” sneakers of the moment and instead substitute in maybe a riskier staple to ensure your style is always ahead of the game. Below are a few pieces that seem to be reoccurring for this upcoming Fall 2019 season.

A lowkey statement coat is something that can be easily thrifted or found vintage shopping, like an oversized blazar, plaid, tweed or somewhere in between. Pairing a blazar with jeans can keep a casual outfit polished, but also still somewhat comfortable. If a blazar seems too stiff, a quilted bomber jacket might do the trick, also giving the option of bringing in a unique pattern or bright colorway.

For brisk mornings or Sundays spent studying in the basement of the library, try a chunky turtleneck or any oversized knit. Styling sweaters can be fun with an athleisure spin. Leggings or your favorite sweats can be made extra stylish when paired with a cozy top. Track pants even have begun to make a comeback and can also be look with a turtleneck tucked in or layered under a favorite tee.

Hair accessories are steadily still in style with fun new developments each season. Hair clips and barrettes are often seen stacked and situated within fun braids and low buns. Padded headbands, satin or velvet can also be a great addition to a somewhat simple outfit. Colorful hair accessories can be best with a layered look.

Also, loafers. New York City podatrist Emily Splichal, explains why loafers are worthy of dropping a dime to Marie Claire magazine. “Loafers provide a great way to add style to an outfit without compromising foot comfort and function. Footwear designers are creating a wide variety with great details. It’s easy to have multiple loafers that pair with business or casual wear. They’re also the perfect shoe for a little extra arch support. Because they’re flat, loafers typically match the natural shape of the foot” says Splichal.

Which is ideal seeming you don’t have to be scoping out law schools to be rocking a pair of G.H. Bass & Co. Weejuns.
