How My Shoes Stuck to the Sticky Floors and Other Exciting Things that Happened When I Stayed at a Local Five-Star Establishment: By An Honest Yelp Reviewer
Over the course of my life, I’ve stayed in some nice places all over the world, but I think I would give the highest rating to my recent pleasant Thursday night stay at one of the local fraternity houses, right here in Canton.
A couple of weeks ago, I had the pleasure of staying at one of these local frat houses quite unexpectedly, but it turned out to be one of the nicest establishments I’ve ever stepped foot in. The house didn’t have the usual mints on the pillow or plush-bathrobes-in-the-closet type of service, but the facilities were unmatched: the spacious bathrooms with drops of pee on each toilet seat, the warm beverages of which I was offered a sip, the polite host who had the manners to walk me to the room in which I would be sleeping, and the breath-taking view out of the slightly cracked open window.
The room that I stayed in was comparable to some of the finest hotel establishments in the world. Why talk about beach-front views when you could look out the window and see tall, dead trees, squirrels scurrying around, and a dull gray sky? Ah, Canton in the wintertime! The fragrant scent that lingers in those five-star hotels was no match for the smell of weed in the air that persisted, despite the open window.
My favorite part was that I didn’t even have to request a wake-up call! At 6:30 in the morning, I woke up to the sounds of footsteps and shouts right outside my door. Talk about a convenient and punctual good morning greeting! Precisely at this time, my host also woke up, threw on his hoodie, and told me he’d walk me out to the door if I needed it. I was taken aback by the pleasantries, since good service is so hard to come by these days.
One of the special features at this beautiful house was the convenient exit that one could take if were trying to leave discreetly and in a rush. This could come in handy when you have places to be at, such as maybe a class at 8:30 a.m. In this case, you could do what I did, and scurry out the door, wave in a hurry to your polite host (who has long shut the door) and run to your next destination.
If you ever need a place to stay and all the local B&B’s seem to be booked, I highly recommend this house for various reasons: it is super close to downtown Canton and all the nearby tourist attractions (Ticker, The Hoot, and the thirty pizza places just to name a few), it is walking distance from your classes and the Pub, high-class facilities, and the hospitality is just unmatched!
