Over the summer, the Princeton Review ranked St. Lawrence No. 2 on its Top 20 Best Private School Alumni Networks list. Laurentians connect and help each other out – it’s just what we do.
The list of students and alumni who get jobs and internships based on the connections they make with fellow Laurentians is longer than anyone can imagine. And this network is available to every single student currently on campus.
But while Laurentians love to help St. Lawrence students, you can’t expect that an alum is just going to pop up out of nowhere at Commencement and make you a job offer. If you want to take advantage of the Laurentian Network, you need to engage with the network.
The Center for Career Excellence, in partnership with our colleagues in University Advancement and other organizations on campus, is offering students several chances to meet and talk with Laurentians here on campus, virtually, and through off-campus programming.

SLU Connect Buffalo/Rochester (application deadline Monday, Sept. 16)
Interesting in learning about career opportunities in Western New York over mid-semester break? SLU Connect-Buffalo/Rochester gives matriculated sophomores, juniors and seniors a chance to connect with Laurentians in a variety of industries through career panel discussions and industry site visits.
We anticipate connecting with alumni who work in health care, real estate, supply chain, entrepreneurship & business/finance, technology and more. A networking event will afford students more opportunities to speak directly with alumni across multiple fields.
Students will depart from campus on Wednesday, October 16 and return on Saturday, October 19.
Tentative events on the itinerary include:

- ROAR Logistics site visit
- Real Estate Roundtable
- Health Care Roundtable
- Networking Reception in Buffalo

Alumni Executive Council Career Conversations (registration deadline Monday, Sept. 16)
The Alumni Executive Council and the Center for Career Excellence re sponsoring Career Conversations on Friday, September 27 from 3:30-4:30 p.m.
Students have the opportunity to speak one-on-one or in small groups with an alum from the Alumni Executive Council about their career journey and glean career advice that could include, but is not limited to, information about career fields, jobs and internships, graduate school, and interview and networking tips. Appointments will be about 25 minutes long.
