How has the St. Lawrence Volleyball team hit their stride this season?
This season we are off to a great start. Our record is currently 10-1, which is the second best start in program history. This preseason we spent a lot of time focusing on the small aspects of our games and it has really paid off. Our team came in this season hungry to prove ourselves in league play, being put at the bottom in our preseason poll.
You’re a senior now, how has this season compared to the previous three? This season is unique because I am one of six seniors on our team. We have all gotten to be so close over the past four years and it is an awesome feeling being able to play once last year with them all. Having six senior also gives us an advantage on the court. None of us have been to Liberty Leagues playoffs before and have the determination that only a senior can have to get there.
What has been the best moment you’ve had in your career here at St. Lawrence?
The moment that really stands out to me as I think back on my career is winning our match against Vassar my sophomore year. They were ranked first in our league and were heading into the match undefeated. No one though we would win and we did. We are underdogs again in the Liberty League, I expect we will have even more upsets to come.
What jumped out at you four years ago when you chose to come to St. Lawrence?
I loved that being an athlete on campus did not have to be your identity or priority. you could join other clubs, take any classes that interested you, and even study abroad. St. Lawrence offered so many opportunities and possibilities that I was excited for.
Do you have a favorite place to go on campus?
My favorite place on campus is the quad in front Kirk Douglas. I love being outside looking at Richardson, Dean, and Herring Cole. In my opinion it is the most beautiful spot on campus.
If you could take one famous athlete out to dinner, who would it be?
