The Republican JFK; President DeSantis

2

In 1960, America elected a young, vibrant President, JFK, who, like the new decade, symbolized change as America transitioned into a glorious new administration that represented a ray of hope and opportunity. Similarly, Governor Ronald DeSantis offers a bright hope for America with many of the same characteristics as JFK, except without the drawbacks of the late president. Like Kennedy, if DeSantis were to win, he would stand for the ascent of a new generation of national leadership, a sort of passing of the torch of American democracy. Eisenhower, Kennedy’s predecessor, was of an older generation of leadership that lost its luster and was replaced by a younger one: the greatest generation. Beyond the mere fact of age, however, DeSantis embodies a Republican version of JFK, but better.

DeSantis, like JFK, is not afraid to fight the political establishment, “fighting the good fight” in the words of Saint Paul. Sending hundreds of migrants to Martha’s Vineyard, the vacation playground of the rich and famous, off the coast of Cape Cod, Massachusetts. The literal embodiment of the Liberal elites, which I can certainly attest to. He demonstrated remarkable bravery during the COVID-19 pandemic, keeping the state open despite the government plutocrats in the CDC warning him of the “irreparable harm” it would cause. DeSantis continued this fight by successfully defeating woke Disney and preventing the teaching of critical race propaganda in the schools of Florida. President Kennedy would be proud of Governor DeSantis, knowing the trials and tribulations he faced from an establishment that possibly plotted his assassination. DeSantis is a grade-A political sniper, displaying a string of political victories and transforming Florida into a red state.

Kennedy and DeSantis also share a similar image, both being handsome war heroes. With JFK famously rescuing several of his marines during WW2, DeSantis served as a JAG officer in Guantanamo Bay during the height of the war on terror. Both figures served their countries in uniform and came from ivy league roots. Kennedy graduated from Harvard with the help of his father’s shady connections. While DeSantis graduated from Yale University and Harvard Law School. Both leaders are Roman Catholic, which is a massive plus for DeSantis’s electoral, particularly with the religious right. Both figures have a similar family dynamic, with a young family and photogenic wives. DeSantis’ image reflects the Kennedy concept, from education, to religion and family. He is the mirror image of JFK.

Despite their similarities, DeSantis and Kennedy share several distinct differences. For Kenndey, sex, drugs, and personal pleasures were par for the course, while DeSantis displays the puritanic virtues which made America great. Kennedy, in the end, was a rich, spoiled, entitled man-child whose father brought him the presidency of the United States. DeSantis, on the other hand, earned everything from his recent 20-point landslide to his impressive congressional credentials; the governor is a self-made political asset. Moreover, DeSantis’ boy scout reputation with a fiery personality makes him an even more potent political weapon than Kennedy could ever be. Governor DeSantis is the Republican Kennedy minus the personal foibles.

Now, in terms of policy he is spot on for America. He fundamentally understands the strength of the Trump presidency. Endorsing the American first agenda in terms of tariffs, fighting the woke, immigration and border security, and being pro-life. The Governor reflects the Trumpism of Donald Trump with a coherent conservative policy. Additionally, the Governor has successfully turned Florida, a previous swing state, into a Republican bastion. Even during his congressional career, DeSantis proudly fought the Russian collusion hoax. One of former President Trump’s most staunch defenders, DeSantis is a less toxic version of Donald Trump.

The critical similarity between Kennedy and DeSantis is that both share a youthful image. The Governor is currently 44 years old, an incredibly young age for a presidential candidate. In comparison to DeSantis, Biden requires carbon dating. Our current President is my grandmother’s age, 80-years-old, belonging to the silent generations. Two generations away from DeSantis, this age difference is a massive advantage. It’s important to remember that Americans want a young President, something DeSantis will exploit, especially against the presumptive Democratic nominee President Joesph Biden.

DeSantis certainly reflects the Kennedy mold but improved. While DeSantis may not have the boundless energy and extroversion of Trump, he is the president that America needs in 2025. DeSantis is the Kennedy of our time but Republican. Catholic, youthful, navy-man, ivy league educated DeSantis is the perfect antithesis to President Biden: a born leader, who turned Florida into a republican bastion, a Governor who fought the talking heads of the media during the COVID pandemic, and a culture warrior who defeated the “evil empire” Walt Disney crushing the woke. He has proven that he could govern conservatively and be the perfect President. Good luck Governor DeSantis, or should I say, President DeSantis!

Comparing a man who saved his comrades in a warzone to a Guantanamo bay guard who tortured anyone the CIA picked up to reach their quota that day has got to be the most insane comparison I have ever heard, Almost as crazy as the rest of this article.

Your reasoning skills are impaired to say the least. Ugh, I’m not even sure commenting this is worth anything. Hope you gain an ounce of decent reasoning in your next 2 years at SLU.
