The Legend of Titus Weekend
Once again, the time has come for one of the most storied weekends here at St. Lawrence University. That’s right, The First Ever 12th Annual Interstellar Evolutionary Great Mount Titus North Country Global Cooldown Wicked Weekend Bombastic Olympic Face Shot Ski Event, is waiting for you. The weekend will start with Rail Jam on the Richard F. Brush ’52 University Quad.
Last year there was a highly limited amount of snow on the ground putting Rail Jam in peril. But thankfully snow was scrounged and jumps built, albeit a little smaller than desired. However, this year we have been blessed with more snow than anyone can remember in their time at SLU.
This has set the stage for one of the best Rail Jam setups for everyone to throw down on in living student memory. There will be a multitude of rails for all skill levels of skiers and a jump with multiple approach angles. Even if you don’t know how to ski a rail, I certainly don’t despite my best efforts to learn, you should try! If you are having fun and staying safe it doesn’t matter how many times you crash. Plus, any of us in the Outing Club will be more than happy to give you some tips.
Since anyone can come to Rail Jam, unlike Titus on Saturday unfortunately, it is an awesome event for everyone. Even if you don’t know how to ski there is going to be a bunch of other awesome things to do. The OC will be cooking up hot dogs and pancakes free of charge to satiate your gnawing hunger. Additionally, the always amazing DJ Sammy will be playing a set during Rail Jam, entertaining the masses. So even if you don’t want to go skiing there will be something for you to do.
Titus Weekend has a long and storied history with roots dating back to students going to the old Snow Bowl to party. This party was featured in Playboy Magazine as one of the best college parties. As we bring Titus Weekend back for the second time post-COVID-19, it is time to bring the hype once again. However, it is important to not do anything too stupid so that Titus Weekend can continue to be a tradition here at SLU. No matter your skill level in skiing, snowboarding or curling, find your funkiest retro outfit and storm the Kirk Quad at 4 p.m. for the start of The First Ever 12th Annual Interstellar Evolutionary Great Mount Titus North Country Global Cooldown Wicked Weekend Bombastic Olympic Face Shot Ski Event.
