This past weekend, St. Lawrence U was hit with one of the worst snowstorms we’ve seen in years. Classes were canceled on Monday, and a travel ban was put in place for St. Lawrence County. But even with these extreme conditions, many facilities workers, Dana employees, and custodial staff showed up to campus to make sure we were safe, fed, and able to get around.

On behalf of The Hill News Editorial Board and all SLU students, we just want to take a moment to say thank you. Thank you to the people who drove through treacherous roads to shovel our walkways, clear the snow, and make sure we could move around campus without risking injury. Thank you to the workers who braved the storm to prepare our meals, making sure we were well-fed despite the chaos.

We know these jobs often go unnoticed, but we want to make sure you know just how much your hard work means to us. You made our campus feel a little more manageable and a lot safer when things could’ve easily gone the other way. Your efforts allowed us to focus on our studies and stay connected to our community, and for that, we are incredibly grateful.

You didn’t have to be here, but you were. And that speaks volumes about your dedication and care for this place and its people. From all of us at SLU, thank you for everything you do — not just during storms, but every day. You are appreciated more than words can say.

Sincerely,

The Hill News Editorial Board
