Hear me out…
Tell me why the hell am I hearing the Student Center call the “Stu.” I have been on this campus for far too long to be hearing people disrespect the Student Center like this. The third floor does not need any name like this linked to the sanctuary where we worship our studies.
When I first heard someone talking about it, I thought that they were talking about a person. The only “Stu” I know is a dude from my sophomore year dorm. I understand that you might use “stu” for convenience. Being able to tell people really quick that you’re walking over to the student center in one word makes sense. But do you text people “hey I’m going to the Stu!” or do you text them “hey I’m heading over to the SC.” Your probably saying SC— thus comes into question why we are saying “Stu” out loud and not the SC? If you’re not going to be using SC out loud, we should probably not be using the word “Stu” either. And if you think that your exempt from this, you’re probably not.
My theory of where this stupid name came from is the underclassman. Until this year I had never heard anyone say this dumb name. I don’t know if they think they own this place or are that they are the top dogs of this school. Because they are not. Well, not yet at least. For sure not right now. Don’t worry I know everyone was thinking it. it seems that they just snuck this one right under our noses when we were all spread out over the three semesters, and they got to be here for the regular school year. Hannah Porter 22’ It has now just carried over into this semester being led by the sophomores and freshman.
As any college student would do, I investigated the word “Stu” and the most reliable resource that came to mind was Urban Dictionary. Let’s be honest I know that this is the place that you look when you hear something weird on campus. Urban Dictionary really gave me some good insight on where this shit came from. “Stu” is “A creepy womanizer who likes to manipulate people” (Urban Dictionary). So please tell me what Beta boy wannabe decided to start this. The student center may manipulate the amount of time that you think you’ve been there, but it has never once felt like a womanizer to me. It may have a lot of women inside and out outside of it, but if that is the case, it is the most respectful womanizer that I have ever met. I have never felt like this relationship with the student center is causal nor has it ever done me dirty like the other Casanovas that have crossed paths with me.
Thoughts of the day. Let’s just stop saying “Stu” I think that everything attached to it just does the student center dirty and he has never once done any of us that dirty. The pub on the other hand…
