Dear Dub: Literally. Please Write Us!
‘Dear Dub’ is a significant part of the Dub’s mission. The column promotes written work that educates students on sexual health through the Hill News. As a house, we have pieced together many opinion-pieces along with introductions of our housemates and a statement of our resources for the SLU community. A few years ago, ‘Dear Dub’ was an open forum for students to ask questions anonymously. The forum was built on educating individuals about sexual health that they were truly interested in learning about, creating an open, safe space for students to express their questions and concerns. Due to the increase in opinion pieces, this forum has slowly faded away from our mission as a theme house, and we would love to bring it back!
Starting next week, ‘Dear Dub’ will be a continuous forum for students to ask questions about consent, sexual health, and the Dub’s resources. In order to submit these questions anonymously, there will be a Google form linked in our Instagram bio, @sludub. There will be ‘Dear Dub’ boxes on the announcement board in the Student Center (near the entrance of the pub) and in Dana, along with small slips of paper to write answers on. If you are stopping by the Dub, we also have a “Leave a note!” box in our vestibule that you can leave questions in as well. If you don’t mind that your name follows your question, you can also direct message the Dub Instagram and we can answer your question directly. If we post your question so others can hear your important thoughts, we will keep it anonymous!
We have chosen to create this space as a house because we believe that it is important for student’s questions to be acknowledged and answered. We hope that you utilize this resource as it will be a weekly column in the Hill News. The boxes and Google form will be up by Friday so please – send us some questions!
Just a reminder: please stop by our house (3 University Ave) for condoms, dental dams, pregnancy tests, Plan B, or for a chat on the porch swing! We also have pamphlets regarding safe sex practices, differing options for birth control, and information about consent. You can direct message our Instagram account (@sludub) for a Plan B gift card or swing into our vestibule for any goodies! Have a safe, consensual weekend!
