A Review on the New(ish) Canton Restaurant
With a giant United States flag waving in front of the building, it would be incredibly hard to miss 11 West coming to and from Canton. The restaurant opened last summer and is open seven days a week. My girlfriend was sick on Valentine’s Day, so we were not able to go out and eat to celebrate. Last weekend, to make up for Valentine’s Day dinner, we decided to try out 11 West. Neither of us had visited yet, and we were excited to try out a new place to eat in the area.
Immediately upon walking in, I was impressed with the interior design. I was a big fan of the modern rustic design with an Adirondack aesthetic typical of many restaurants unique to the North Country. The tables were beautifully decorated with lights and flowers. The waitstaff was extremely friendly. Despite how busy the restaurant was, we received our meals in good timing. My meal, consisting of chicken marsala and mashed potatoes, was delicious and filling. My girlfriend tried the fettuccine Alfredo, which she also enjoyed. 11 West offers a variety of desserts as well, but we were both too full to even think about dessert. During our meal, the bar and restaurant were becoming increasingly crowded and busy. I admit that the meals can be a bit pricey, but luckily the food was good, so it was worth it. On our way out, there was a line out the front door with large groups and families excited to eat. It was a great thing to see for a small-town establishment.
I think it is great for Canton to have another restaurant, especially a higher-quality one. Its booming business should be a good omen not only for 11 West, but for other restaurants in the area, and for those interested in opening a business around here. Plus, as St. Lawrence University students, why not support the local businesses around us? Try it out!
