If the idea of making money while living in free on-campus housing while helping a local organization sounds like a good way to spend your summer, you should look into the St. Lawrence University Public Interest Corps.
SLU PIC is celebrating its 10th anniversary of matching St. Lawrence students with local non-profit organizations, and there are a total of nine opportunities that students can apply for this year.
Organizations and position titles for this year’s SLU PIC summer internship program include:
Frederic Remington Art Museum (Digital Collections Intern)
GardenShare (Local Food Investigator Intern)
Helping Hands of Potsdam (Administrative Intern)
North Country Children’s Museum (Social Media, Marketing and Events Intern)
Northern Area Health Education Center (Programming Intern)
SLC Arts Council (Summer Arts Program Intern)
SLC Public Health Department (Communicable Disease Intern)
St. Lawrence Land Trust (Summer Intern)
United Helpers (Marketing & Fundraising Intern)
These organizations are looking for motivated students who can help them advance their mission. In return, you’ll gain valuable skills and experience that will help you build your resume, all while building relationships that could help you advance on your career path.
“One interesting thing about SLU PIC program is that it is within the local community,” said Sydney Curley ’25, who participated in the SLU PIC internship program last year, in a recent interview featured by the @SLUCareers Instagram account. “During my time on campus, I’m very involved with on-campus activities, but I don’t really get to go out into the Canton community, so this was a really great way to experience that.”
