Athlete of the Week: Adam McGee ’25
- Sophomore, Class of ’25
- From Fairport, New York
- He/Him/His
- Sushi/ Hibachi
- This is my seventh year of rowing, I have been rowing since eighth grade
- I chose SLU for many reasons including academics and rowing. St. Lawrence has a great system for helping students determine what they want to pursue. I did not know what I wanted to do when I first came to SLU but have now found areas that I am excited and interested in learning about. I also chose SLU because it allowed me to continue to row which is something I love.
- My favorite team memory so far was going to Tampa, Florida for spring break to continue our training and getting to spend a bunch of time with some of my closest friends.
- My favorite St. Lawrence memory is from my first concert as part of the Singing Saints acapella group last spring. It was amazing to see all of the support from campus and the community as well as have the opportunity to perform in the chapel.
- The best part about being a collegiate athlete is the instant sense of community and family that you get from the moment you are on campus. Being a collegiate athlete has given me a second family and group of friends that are irreplaceable.
- Being a collegiate athlete has its ups and downs and for me personally, the sacrifice that is hardest for me sometimes is the time commitment. It takes around 18-20 hours per week devoted to being an athlete, but I would not change a thing.
- The crew season is going pretty well so far, we have an amazing group of guys this season and are hoping to do some fun things competitively both this fall and spring. We have already had one race in Albany, NY this season where the whole team performed very well.
- Some of our goals for this season are to focus on building our speed and efficiency on the water, as well as continue to get better all-around as a team and compete at a high level.
- I can row both sides of the boat, port and starboard.
