NFL Season Recap
Throughout the NFL season, Sean Pearson, Chris Marquart, and myself, along with Snapchat AI, picked winners of games each week. In the regular season during the fall semester, we picked four select games each week, and when we got back after winter break, we picked the winners of the conference championship games and the Super Bowl.
In the conference championships, Sean, Chris, and I all wrongly picked the Ravens to beat the Chiefs, with Snapchat AI being the only one to pick the Chiefs to win correctly. We all nailed the 49ers out of the NFC, though. In the Super Bowl, Sean, Chris, and I all picked the 49ers, with Snapchat AI again going against the grain by picking the Chiefs. They were again right, as the Chiefs won 25-22 in overtime to win Super Bowl LVIII. In our playoff picks, Snapchat AI went an impressive 3-0, with Sean, Chris, and I all going 1-2.
This playoff success of Snapchat AI was a surprising reversal of fortune, given its regular season picks. In the regular season, it finished last in record at 20-24, and its 3-0 playoff record wasn’t enough, giving it an overall last-place finish with a record of 23-24. I ended up in first place in the regular season, finishing with a regular season record of 29-15 and an overall record of 30-17. Sean finished in second, with regular season and playoff records of 27-17 and 28-19, respectively. Chris ended up in third, with 24-20 and 25-22 for his respective regular season and playoff records. I think I could’ve had a better record, however, if I didn’t have a Bills bias in my picks. Out of our 12 editions of The Hill, 11 Bills games were featured on the weekly picks, with their bye week being the only edition without them. I picked the Bills to win all 11 times, and they lost five of these games, giving me a 6-5 record in Bills games and hurting my overall record.
Also, in reviewing the article I wrote on August 31st, 2023, which predicted the 2023-24 NFL season, my success in predictions was a mixed bag. I only picked seven out of the 14 playoff teams correctly, and I hoped to pick at least 10 correctly. However, I did nail the two Super Bowl teams, as I picked the Chiefs to win the AFC and the 49ers to win the NFC. My Super Bowl pick was a 27-23 49ers victory, while in actuality, the Chiefs won 25-22. So my score was close, but unfortunately, I picked the wrong team. Since I picked the two teams right this past season, I will give you my way too early Super Bowl prediction right now: 49ers vs Bills; Bills win Super Bowl LIX 24-20.
