St. Lawrence Women’s hockey team continued their stellar conference play last weekend, defeating Union 4-2. Despite falling down 2-0 only five minutes in, the Saints rebounded, scoring four unanswered goals to win 4-2. It was not until 8:11 in the second period that the Saints were able to sneak their 23rd shot by Union senior goaltender Shenae Lundburg.

The lady Saints entered the third period down 2-1 until Kennedy Marchment ‘18 sniped her 11th of the season from Sophmore Brooke Webster ‘17. Tied 2-2 with time dwindling down in the third period, Hannah Miller ‘17 sauced around two defenders and rang one in short side to capture the Saints first lead of the game, 3-2. In the final minute, Brooke Webster added an empty net goal, her team leading 13th, to seal the win for the Saints over the Dutchwomen. Webster is currently tied for fourth in goals in the ECAC and 7th in points. Union only managed 16 shots against the Saints, below their average of 19. The Union goaltender, Lundburg, has faced more shots than any other goaltender in the nation, over 36 a game. The story was no different against the Saints, Lundburg made 47 saves on 50 shots.

The win over Union capped off a weekend sweep, moving Saint Lawrence to 12-8-3 overall with an impressive 8-3-2 record in conference play. They face a difficult opponent at home Jan 23rd and 24th, against the #9 Mercyhurst Lakers. The Lakers are 17-4-3 on the year and are poised to make a championship run.
