Fall Saints Sports Weekly Recap

Football:

The St. Lawrence football team had a mixed bag of results in the past two weeks. On September 13, they beat Norwich University 20-9 on their home turf to keep the Hoffman Cup in Canton for the fourth straight year.
Quarterback Mark Rodeo ’27 went 14-19 for 150 yards and a touchdown for the Saints, and defensive lineman Thomas Our ’25 was named St. Lawrence MVP due to his strong play, which included two sacks.
The Saints dropped last weeks game on September 20 to Western New England, but there were still some bright spots, notably the play of quarterback Daniel Lawther ’25, who threw for 153 yards and two touchdowns.

Women’s Soccer:

The women’s soccer team has been on a hot streak as of late, notching three wins
and one tie in their past four games to improve to 4-2-1 on the season.
Recently, they tied Union 1-1 at home in their first game in Liberty League play,
with Meredith Donahue ’26 scoring for the Saints.
In the game before that, they went on the road to Buffalo and beat Buffalo State 3-1 behind goals from Grace Mochnal ’25, Madison King-Thurber ’26, and Mia Cence ’25.
In the game before that they crushed Oswego State 4-0, with Mochnal recording
three points and Darcie McDonough ’25 having a clean sheet in goal.

Cross Country:

The men’s and women’s cross country team’s competed at the Hoffman Invitational last weekend, with members of both teams having strong races.
On the women’s side, the team finished third overall in the 6K race. Charlotte
Blake ’27 led the Saints with her 11th place finish, while first-year Avery Blanchard
finished fifteenth overall.

The men’s team also finished in third place. Their race is 8K long, and Nick
Lyndaker ’26 was the saints top finisher in 10th place. Patrick Russel ’26 followed
close behind, finishing in 11th overall. The teams will compete next at the Paul
Short Run on October 5th.

Field Hockey:

The field hockey team has hit their stride in recent days, winning their last two
games to improve their record to 3-4.
On September 18th they beat Utica 4-2 on two goals each from Lily Gubbins’27
and Caroline Hamilton ’26.
This was Hamilton’s six goal of the season, which at the time was tied for second
among members of all Liberty League teams.
In the Saints’ next game, against Keuka on the road, Hamilton added her seventh
goal of the season and six different Saints scored in a 6-0 win.
St. Lawrence will travel to Saratoga Springs and play Skidmore this Saturday.

Men’s Golf

The men’s golf team finished third at the SUNY Canton Invitational and then ninth at the competitive William’s Fall Invitational.

Ben DeBiase ’26 shot a strong 76 to tie for second place and lead the team at the SUNY Canton Invite.
At the Williams Fall Invite, Jimmy King ’26 shot a 76 on Saturday and a 74 on Sunday to tie for 14th place overall. King moved up eight spots from Saturday to Sunday.
Debiase and Ben Scholes ’25 tied for 30th place with a 154 total score.
The team as a whole scored 612 points for ninth. They improved over the weekend, totaling a 309 on Saturday and a 303 on Sunday
