With the conclusion of the All-Atlantic Region Track and Field Conference (AARTFC) track meet this weekend, held at the Nike Track and Field Center at the Armory in NYC, the Saints Indoor Track and Field season has come to a close. Although there were no national meet qualifiers this year, there was still plenty of success across the board this season. Beginning with the Regional meet, Alli Sibold won the Women’s mile in a personal record (PR) time of 5:02.71, which was over three seconds ahead of the second-place runner from DeSales. Other top eight finishes at the regional meet included Emma Palumbo in the 3k, coming in fifth with a PR time of 10:08.72, Nick Lyndaker in the mile coming in fourth with a PR time of 4:13.41, and Michael Skutt in the 3k coming in seventh with a PR time of 8:34.35. Timmy Boyce also won the 800m running out of the slow heat but was unfortunately disqualified (DQ’d) after the race had concluded due to an alleged lane violation where he stepped out of his lane before the break was allowed.

Moving back a week to the Liberty League Championships hosted by RIT, there were a plethora of top-eight performances there as well. These included three top-eight performances in the Women’s 3k, with Emma Palumbo coming in fourth, Katherine Sheehy in sixth, and Olivia Watson in eighth. Watson and Sheehy also went three and four in the Women’s 5k. Palumbo also came in eighth in the Women’s mile, while Alli Sibold, the eventual regional champion, placed third in the Leagues mile. Sibold also doubled in the 800m at Leagues, finishing fifth. Other league medalists (top-eight) for the women included Maia Walquist placing second in the High Jump, Kaylee Bertini placing fourth, also in the high jump, and wrapping up the high jump, Amelia Berthold in eighth place. Rounding out the women in the top eight, the 4×400 team placed seventh, and the Distance Medley Relay team placed fifth.

Moving onto the men at Leagues, the highlight had to be from Eric Geier who won the 60m hurdles in a new PR and school record time of 8.24 seconds, with the previous record having stood firm for over a decade. Many others also placed strongly in the top eight over the two-day meet. For day one, these included Nick Lyndaker garnering third in the mile, William Hauf placing fifth in the high jump, and Zach Jaworski grabbing fourth in the shot put. As for day two performances, these included Nick Lyndaker placing third in the 800m, Zach Jaworski placing fourth in the weight throw, Joe O’Rourke placing seventh in the weight throw, and Michael Skutt placing seventh in the 3k. In addition to all of these, the Distance Medley Relay team grabbed seventh place on day one, and the 4×400 team grabbed eighth on day two.

All in all, the Saints found tremendous success this season, with many PRs across all members of the teams, individual championships won, and much experience gained as the Saints now progress into the Outdoor Track and Field season with their first meet at the Merrick Pinkard Track and Field complex at home on April 1.
