Champions League Update
Last week, the UEFA Champions League, one of the most prestigious & celebrated European football tournaments that takes place each year, has witnessed a series of entertaining matches that portrayed ample talent from international footballers.
Scoring a hat trick for England’s Manchester City, Raheem Sterling helped his team to bring down a fierce opponent such as Atlanta who is currently ranked third in the Serie A, Italian football league. Atlanta was only able to score one goal throughout the match as the match ended with a 5-1 win for Manchester City in Manchester, England.
Gary Linkear, a current sports broadcaster, said “Sterling has been good tonight. Scored two, created one and won the penalty for the other. Terrific.”
Another tight match that incorporated a dramatic environment was Chelsea’s match against Ajax that took place in Johan Cruyff Arena Stadium in Amsterdam.
Chelsea’s manager and ex-blues player, Frank Lampard expressed the risks of relaxing after they recorded their sixth straight win at Ajax after winning 1-0 last Wednesday.
““I remember being a player and having good runs of form, slightly relaxing in training in moments and the form turned and I had to reassess myself,” he said. “I always felt that as a player so I became, as I got older, more fearful of good patches, fearful of any form of relaxation, so I push that and the staff do too. I certainly am the one who drives that home because that was me,” he said.
The higher seeds preserved their place by being on top of their stage groups and are carving a path closer to the elimination rounds. Next week will be the 2nd leg of group stages, where Ajax will be playing Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in London for a lead in their group (Group H.) In addition, Manchester City will be playing Atlanta in San Siro Stadium in Milan, Italy.
