How long have you been Nordic skiing?

I’ve been on skis all my life and I started skiing competitively in seventh grade.

What inspired you to start Nordic skiing?

I had always liked the cross-country skiing I did with my family in my backyard, and one Christmas my dad gave me my first set of skate skis. Once I tried them out, I was hooked!

What motivates you to have success in Nordic skiing?

Being on the travel roster is never a given, so I have to perform well to keep racing and spending time with my awesome teammates—not to mention it feels great to go fast!

Why did you choose St. Lawrence?

The coach here promised me a spot on his team, so I committed right then and there.

What is your favorite team memory?

Our winter break training camp this year; lots of great skiing and spending time with my teammates without the stress of school.

What is your favorite St. Lawrence memory?

Folk Fest last year coincided with an outdoor track meet and gorgeous spring weather.  Running back and forth between watching my friends run on the track and play on the stage was super fun.

What is your favorite class that you have taken at SLU?

The Outdoor State of Mind FYP. We got to try a variety of outdoor activities including a three-day overnight canoe trip and I learned a lot of useful skills.

What are your favorite hobbies/other interests?

I love hiking and spending time outside, and one of my teammates recently taught me how to crochet!

What is your favorite part of being a collegiate athlete?

The team!! Skiing is great, but skiing with your friends is the best.

What is your least favorite part of being a collegiate athlete?

We spend a lot of time travelling to and from venues and practice in addition to the hours we spend actually training, which can take away from academic and social time.

How has your season been going so far?

Overall way better than anticipated. I can’t complain.

What are your goals for the rest of the season?

Top 50 in a skate race and score some more points for the team.

Favorite pro athlete?

Sydney Peterson, member of the US Paralympic Nordic Ski Team and Paralympic medalist!! Her tenacity and the crazy amounts of hard work she puts into both skiing and school is super inspiring.

Fun fact?

I live in the POWER House and so should you (if you want to live in a fun and active community).
