Take Back the Night

0

This Tuesday, Nov. 6, the Dub will host Take Back the Night. This event will take place in the Chapel at 7:30 p.m. Take Back the Night is an event in which we listen to stories of sexual assault, dating violence and stalking from survivors.

After the speakers are done, survivors lead a march around the chapel, and there is a candlelight ceremony on the quad. Following the candlelight ceremony, there is a speak out. Each one of these traditions is optional.

Additionally, there will be available advocates throughout the night as well as a self- care room. Take Back the Night is an extremely powerful way of showing solidarity with survivors. This is more important than ever as such prominent figures in our society and our political system have shown that they do not believe survivors.

The fact that Take Back the Night is on election night is not lost on us. Take Back the Night is about reclaiming what has been taken from us. We would like to invite the entire St. Lawrence community to join us at Take Back the Night.
