Bari Named Director of Athletics
St. Lawrence University’s search for a new Director of Intercollegiate Athletics is over. Later this month, Franco Bari ’98, M’10, a long-time fixture of the athletic department, will take the wheel.
The position became vacant when former Vice President of Athletics Bob Durocher hung up his cleats after 35 years with SLU Athletics.
In Bari’s previous role, he oversaw the Appleton Phase Two renovations and the Student-Athlete Development Program, something an Instagram post said, “enhances the holistic student-athlete experience by providing cross-campus support to assist with the development of student-athletes beyond sport.”
Comments on an announcement of Bari’s appointment on Instagram were overly positive. “Congratulations Franco! Well deserved” wrote Instagram user “syracusepool.”
“WTG [way to go] Franco!” wrote Instagram user “northcountrydesign.”
“Congrats Franco & St. Lawrence! Go Saints,” wrote Instagram user “dougiebvt.”
Bari was a four time all-region selection and captained the Saint’s soccer team, making back to back NCAA tournaments in 1996 and 1997. He is married to Assistant Women’s Hockey Coach Mare MacDougall Bari.
