Get to Know Diane White Husic 

Diane White Husic is the first Dick ’64 and Gail Stradling Executive Director of the Center for the Environment. She has a vast background in environmental science including teaching, researching and activism.  

Her connection to the environment started growing up on the Upper Peninsula of Michigan where Husic says she where there is a strong connection to the outdoors. Although Husic started as a molecular lab scientist she started her career in environmental science after working on a Superfund site doing revegetation with students. Working to mitigate contamination and create a biodiverse grassland was a transformative experience.  

Husic hopes that the Center for the Environment will give students a new way to connect with the environment. Husic hopes that students will be able to connect their other interests with environmental studies through the Center for the Environment. According to Husic the Center will be a hub for academic programs, co-curriculars and community partners to come together.
