Career Corner: Don’t Delay, Make an Appointment With the Center for Career Excellence Today!
Are you unsure about what you want to do after college? Are you confused about what career resources St. Lawrence University has to offer? Are you hesitant to send out your resume? Does the idea of writing a cover letter give you angst? Are you wondering the best way to approach the job/internship process?
If your answer to any of these questions is “yes,” don’t worry, you are not alone! I also struggled with many of these inquiries prior to my introduction to the Center for Career Excellence here at SLU.
The CCE is located directly above the mail center on the second floor of the Student Center, right before the exit door on the right side. Through those doors, there is a team of staff and student interns excited to meet and work with you on your career exploration process.
Now that you know where the CCE is, let’s focus on why you should begin working with the team there now. The sooner you start this process, the easier it will be to explore and learn about your options and the resources that are available to you. You’ll have more time to refine your professional toolkit and be less stressed out during each step of the process.
If you are a senior and you have not yet been to CCE, don’t panic, it’s not too late! Make an appointment sooner rather than later even if you are anxious; there are people and resources here to get you set up for success after graduation.
There are several ways to make an appointment with an intern or a career coach. Simply visit stlawu.joinhandshake.com, or scan the QR code that accompanies this article, to make an appointment online. Sign in using your St. Lawrence login credentials and select the appointment that best fits your needs. If you aren’t sure where to start, select “Peer Introduction to the Center” to simply learn about the resources and services that we offer.
If you’d prefer to make an appointment in person, simply stop by the front desk at the office during normal business hours, and Celeste Rothstein or someone else will be available to assist you. You can also make an appointment by calling the main office line at 315-229-5906.
When we are wrapping up appointments with students, they often tell us “I wish I had come in earlier!” Don’t be one of those people! No matter where you are on your career development journey, the CCE is here to help. Take advantage of everything we have to offer today!
