So, you’re reading the Arts and Entertainment section of the Hill News? Does this mean you’re interested in performing arts? If you are (or even if you aren’t), join SLU Performing Arts Collective, ka SLU PAC. We’re a group of students who encourage arts and entertainment of all kinds, host performing events, and have casual listening or artistic activities from time to time. Many people assume that performing or being good at art is a requirement for our events, but I’m here to tell you that it’s not. We’re here for you to try new things, make new friends, and have fun! We have weekly meetings on Mondays at 5:30 pm in the Arts Annex Music Library or outside on the Annex front lawn, but you don’t have to attend weekly meetings to attend events. Activities like listening parties usually have snacks related to the artist or genre being celebrated. They have ranged from Paramore and pub cookies to Rex Orange Creamsicle County to Soup for the Soul. Karaoke, live shows, musical movie nights, songwriting workshops, and open mics are a few other things we’ve done, and we hope to do them again in the near future. In fact, our first event of the year is Stoop Show this Saturday, September 25th, from 3-5 pm on the Arts Annex stoop. If you’ve never been to a Stoop Show before, it’s an event where students like you have the opportunity to sing, poetry slam, juggle, play an instrument, or whatever you’d like to do, and watch your friends perform. You can also email him to be put on our weekly email listserv or give us more ideas for things to do as a club. We’d love to see you at the stoop on Saturday to come to say hi and listen to some friends perform!
