Turn It Off Before You Take Off!

Hey Saints! We all know the struggle of waking up for those early morning classes, and racing out of your door to make it on time. I bet a lot of you, like me, have left the lights on during your early morning scramble. I bet even more of you have left your fan, hair dryer, laptop or other appliances on as well. So, let’s take a quick look at how this will affect CO2 emissions:

-A 60 Watt light bulb produces 39gr of CO2 emissions per hour.

-An 11 Watt energy saving light bulb produces 7gr of CO2 emissions per hour.

-A hair dryer produces 520-1300gr of CO2 emissions per hour.

-A laptop produces 52 to 234gr of CO2 emissions per hour.

With this in mind, let’s increase our awareness and conserve energy. When facing the morning rush, take a couple of seconds to make sure you turn off the lights and power down your appliances. In order to reduce CO2 emissions and increase campus-wide sustainability, remember, turn it off before you take off!
