EAO’s Earth Fest Extravaganza
Reclaim Earth Day: St. Lawrence University Students Join Students from 100 Campuses in National Coordinated Action, Declare Climate Emergency, Demand Climate Justice.
In Canton, NY on April 28 the St. Lawrence Environmental Action Organization will host Earth Fest.
At the conclusion of Earth Fest, we will demand that St. Lawrence University acts against the climate crisis. On Sunday, April 28, we will be hosting several events on Earth Fest with groups and professors on campus with the goal of raising climate awareness.
Starting at 5 p.m. on Sunday, we will be making a banner with Habitat for Humanity declaring our demands to divest away from fossil fuels.
We will do our banner drop in the Student Center.
We act as one of 100+ campuses declaring a climate emergency on Earth Day 2024, pushing our institutions to prioritize climate justice on all levels.
College students around the country have banded together to declare a climate emergency and demand that our universities step up.
Together, we will push our colleges to divest from fossil fuels and invest in environmental justice initiatives, dissociate from Big Oil, build relationships with frontline communities, decarbonize our campuses, and take the lead on innovative climate solutions. Students are acting because the climate crisis is here, but St. Lawrence University administration is stalling.
Many of our colleges maintain close ties with Big Oil, through endowment investments and allowing for undue fossil fuel influence on climate-related research.
St. Lawrence University has not even attempted to step away from fossil fuels despite branding itself as a sustainable campus.
We are calling on our universities to cut all ties with the fossil fuel industry.
Furthermore, we demand our universities cultivate local communal relationships and take the lead on climate solutions.
