My name is Charles Sirotek, I am the President of KSLU, and have held this position for the past three years. KSLU is the campus radio station at St. Lawrence University.
Getting the station organized, and operating like a well-oiled machine, has been a lot of hard work, but it’s been worth it. I’ve learned a lot about management, marketing, budgeting, and broadcast equipment, during this hands-on experience. It has been a blast most of the time, with the help of some great fellow students and faculty. I’m graduating this spring, but I know KSLU has a solid future with the undergrads I leave at the helm.
In honor of KSLU, and its predecessor WCAD, one of the first college radio stations in the country, I have directed and produced Charles Sirotek’s Most Excellent Analysis of Radio. Considering Owen D Young and Ward C Priest were supporters of KSLU’s direct predecessor, WCAD, this documentary, the first of its kind, should be of great interest to all.
I would like to especially thank Paul Haggett of Owen D Young Special Collections, and Bob Sauter of NCPR. Their resources, and knowledge of KSLU’s history were invaluable. I hope you enjoy the documentary.
