On Tuesday, November 28, at 5:56 in the morning, the official website for the Grammy Music Awards published the 2018 nominee list. The music scene has been in an uproar since, and musicians and fans alike are ecstatic at the selection.
The list can be viewed on the website, though most fans and artists are excited to see who will win the four General Field awards: Record of the Year, Album of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best New Artist. The artists included in most of these categories include Childish Gambino, Bruno Mars, Alessia Cara, and Julia Michaels. Many of the hit songs from this year will be eligible, including the summer pop favorite “Despacito” by Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee featuring Justin Bieber.
Despite the General Field being one of the most anticipated, the other 29 genres represented at the awards each have their own subcategories to win from, with 84 categories in total. Performances during the awards are being planned and will hopefully be just as spectacular as last year. Hosts and presenters of the awards will be determined later on as well as the date of the award show rapidly approaches.
Artists from multiple genres, ages, and backgrounds now lie in wait to see who will win one or more of the many awards available. The Grammy Music Awards Ceremony will be on Sunday, January 28, 2018 at 7 p.m. and will be broadcasted live on CBS, so mark your calendars!
