Waka Flocka Brings the Flame to SLU’s Fall Fest
Every year, the St. Lawrence Association for Campus Entertainment (ACE) brings some of the biggest and best names in the music industry to campus. For last year’s Fall Fest, ACE brought the up-and-coming musical artist Binki. Spring Fest 2022 did not disappoint either: ACE brought in Euphoria actor and alternative singer Dominic Fike. Fike lulled the crowd with his guitar and beautiful melodies. This year, ACE announced that Waka Flocka Flame is joining Fall Fest 2022. Flocka’s discography includes popular songs such as “Hard in da Paint” and “No Hands.”
This summer, Waka Flocka mutually divorced his wife of eight years. The 36-year-old rapper says that he and his wife handled the divorce well. Waka explained that the marriage weakened his mental health, leaving him with a spell of depression. Since the finalization of his divorce, Waka has dedicated his time to heal himself. Waka is in good spirits and is set to give a sensational performance.
In the past, there have been controversial opinions on previous Fall Fest artists. The feedback has been both positive and negative. One concern many students had was that their music taste was not adequately represented. Another concern that students raised was that they were not familiar with the artists. Lastly, students called for a more diverse lineup as well as artists who are well known. ACE has heard the cries of St. Lawrence students loud and clear and will be delivering a diverse lineup for this Fall Fest. Due to surveys sent out earlier this semester, ACE is well prepared for a sensational concert. ACE has spent months preparing for Fall Fest and anticipates a big turnout. We send a big Laurentian welcome to Waka Flocka and the concert opener 2kBaby. The concert is set to be held on Sept. 23, 2022, at 5 p.m.
