12th Annual North Country Folk Festival

1

Hello, all you beautiful people!

It is me again! Kate Bouchard ’26, a proud Hill News writer and member of the Greenhouse! I am writing to tell you a bit more about the who, what, when, where, and why of Folk Fest!

Who? The Annual North Country Folk Festival is brought to you by the Greenhouse, the low-impact living and local food systems-focused theme house on campus. Folk Fest was started 13 years ago with the goal of bringing together SLU and the larger North Country community. The event aims to recognize and celebrate student and local art, food and community. The festival is comprised of student, local and headliner bands, as well as student and local vendors, and local farms! The Greenhouse and our Canton community partners have worked hard to bring this all together!

What? Folk Fest consists of music, dancing and love for our North Country community! Throughout the event, students and community members can sit back and relax, listening to our arrangement of musical talent. Come hang out and see your friends perform! Check out the array of five stellar local bands with a variety of different styles and performances!

Want something a bit bigger? Listen in on our headliner bands, Driftwood and Black Opry, who will be ending the night off with a bang! Come boogie–woogey until your tushie falls off!

Is dancing not your cup of tea? Do not fret! Walk around looking at and talking with our many vendors! Support your friends or buy from a small business! So many cool goodies and treasures to be found within our land of vendors.

Is supporting local businesses not your thing either? Come learn from our local farmers about what they do to feed our lovely community and support resilient local food systems!

When? Friday, April 26, from 3 to 11 p.m.!

Where? On the Java Quad, outside of the Sullivan Student Center! Follow the music!

Why? Who doesn’t love a good time celebrating the hard work, creativity and love for music within our North Country community? Folk Fest is a safe space to relax, express yourself, and enjoy the wonder of locality. The North Country has so much to offer!

We can’t wait to see you all there!
Peace, luv, ‘n’ veggies, The Greenhouse
