Kat Wright is Right for Java

Kat Wright’s demands for the show may have been higher than most performers, but it did not take away from the attendance and quality of the show. The Java Barn hosted the Vermont native and her band this past Saturday.

Will Havens, a senior and booking agent at the Java Barn, spoke highly of Kat Wright. “I think Kat Wright is one of the most talented musicians we have [had] come through,” Havens claimed. Havens also stated that he enjoys her very tight and professional sound.

Havens revealed details regarding the booking process for the barn as well. He said that the people who attend the shows usually reach out to suggest who they would like to see perform. He also noted that Kat Wright was a recurring name in this process.

The Java Barn fan base and Kat Wright have a great connection because Java can handle her attention to detail. Alaina Ring, a junior in the Java house, was also working as the guest host for the show. “So, guest. You are in charge of getting food for the band and um, making sure they’re happy,” said Ring.

One of Kat Wright’s requests to Ring was her need for more ambient lighting. “She’s just very particular about her sound,” Ring claimed. Ring also believes that performing at the Java Barn gives performers an environment they are not accustomed to. “You don’t really have venues like we have here at Java,” Ring stated. “They get to interact with the crowd a lot more than they usually get to,” added King.

Both Havens and Ring vouched for Kat Wright’s appeal to the Java fan base and gave feedback on the performance overall. “She was high maintenance, but it definitely paid off,” Havens said about the performance. “They’re a big favorite among the students, everyone loves Kat Wright,” said Ring.
