Sending Off Our Seniors with “Senior 48”
As finals week quickly approaches, seniors are spending their last few days on campus reminiscing on the memories they made during their four years here at SLU. Although we are unable to have the traditional senior week and commencement ceremony, the Senior Class Council and SLU faculty and staff have worked extremely hard this semester to come up with a sendoff that feels as close to “normal” as possible in these abnormal times. Instead of the traditional weeklong hiatus that seniors typically have, we have crafted “Senior 48”, a two-day celebration for our seniors consisting of a variety of activities, meals, and safe social gatherings. Below is an outline of what seniors should look forward to, starting Friday, April 16, up until Sunday morning before commencement;
Friday, April 16
- 5-8 pm: BBQ Theme Dinner at Dana (grab your food by 7 if you want to attend the Last Lecture!)
- 7-8 pm: Last Lecture in the Chapel
- This event will involve the presentation of the Owen D. Young Outstanding Faculty Award (presented to Dr. Ernesto Moralez, Public Health Department) and the new Kathleen Buckley Outstanding Staff Award (presented to John Staie and Sean Pearson, Dining Services)
- A livestream version similar to that of 33rd night will be available for those unable to attend in-person, people attending in person were done by lottery system just like 33rd Night.
- 8-9:30 & 10-11 pm: Senior Blues in the Student Center
- Half of class will be invited into the Student Center to enjoy free drinks, snacks, and music—you will sign up for a time to attend by family unit (watch for a message with further details; the other half the class will attend the same event Saturday evening)
