Volleyball Wrapping Up 2025 Season
Saints Finish Up Liberty League Matches As Season Nears End
On Saturday, Nov. 1, the St. Lawrence volleyball team dominated their final away games of the season, beating both SUNY Polytechnic Institute and Keuka College 3-0. With their Liberty League matches concluded for the season, the Saints look to finish their schedule having met one goal: to bring their unfinished business into the 2026 season.
“I think this season was definitely a step in the right direction, and it’s really exciting to see our program getting better and better,” said Bridget Gammons ‘28. “Although it didn’t turn out the way we wanted, everyone worked super hard and had a lot of fun. I am very excited for what next season will bring.”
At the beginning of the season, the Saints dominated their first three matches against Russel Sage, Plattsburgh State and SUNY Delhi. As noted by a majority of the team, their “energy” and “fire” have been key components of their winning matches throughout the entire fall season, as they hope to start their off-season training with a bang.
“I think a majority of off-season training will be a bunch of conditioning and just getting faster and stronger,” noted an anonymous teammate. “It will be good for us, since that’s the time after we’ve had a bit of rest when it’s really time to get down to the nitty-gritty.”
As most of the junior class – Vanessa Latam ’27, Kalina Natcheva ’27 and Araiza Acum-Santos ’27– will be going abroad in the spring, the rest of the Saints will partake in off-season training in Burkman Gymnasium. While some will be training in Canton, others will be working hard in Italy and Costa Rica.
During the spring season, the Saints will train with off-season lifts, Captain’s practice open gyms and coaches’ practice once a week. After speaking with Saints players, it is evident that off-season training focuses significantly on conditioning and technique-emphasized drills.
The Saints’ record currently stands at 15-11, with a Liberty League Conference record of 2-6 and an overall winning percentage of 0.557. In their final matches this upcoming weekend, the Saints will face SUNY Canton and SUNY Potsdam- both of whom the Saints beat 3-1 earlier in the season.
