Boot ‘n Paddle: Let the Words in the Wind Take Your Mind Far

A Lyricless Symphony

In a nearly silent forest, drops from dry creeks drum their rhythm.
In a nearly silent forest, fleeting feet scurry from impulse to instinct.
In a nearly silent forest, breezes sift through trees and leaves.
In a nearly silent forest, cicadas breathe long in, then out again.
In a nearly silent forest, both rock and root slip and snap.
In a nearly silent forest, a lyricless symphony plays its tune.

Sidewalk Shuffle

At the crosswalks I approach,
We play a little game.
Whether a Miata or a Coach,
The song remains the same.
A break tap here,
A humble step there.
Intentions are unknown,
Does this driver even care?
As steel speeds from afar,
I have one more card to play.
I stare right into that car,
And then I look away.
As I begin my haughty gate,
I lend one last fateful glance,
Has my driver sealed my fate,
Or may I keep my two-legged stance?
Breaks screech to a stop,
Signaling no more danger.
God has saved me this time,
From that supped up white Ford Rang

Ode to Dana

One whiff, then another,
Stomach rumbles, grab your brother.
Maybe meatloaf and zucchini,
Made to order hotdog weenie.
Pita bar from afar,
Looks to me like it’s on par.
Should I wait in that long line?
I’ve got a 12:50, I’ve got the time.
From fried this to fried that,
You and your girls will be there, stat.
Welcome one, welcome all,
To the world-renowned Dana Dining Hall.

Wind Art

Not just in the air, but also in the heart.
Sometimes with a sound, sometimes with a shart.
Either way you have it, every wind is an art.
So who the hell are you to tell me not to fart?
