A Tour Around the World For International Education Week
It’s International Education Week here at St. Lawrence University! Join the collaboration between students, CIIS staff, faculty members, dining services, and others to promote awareness of off-campus study programs and the fantastic impact of international students at our school. The week features a series of events to learn more about off-campus study programs, prepare for the SLU Signature Program Early Application Deadline (Dec. 6, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. in Studio Abroad), make and eat food from around the world, and celebrate culture. Here, we highlight just a few of the events you won’t want to miss.
Coming up this Friday, Nov. 14, is a Diwali celebration, hosted by ASIA Club and Literacy for Nepal. Stop by Eben Holden at 7 p.m. for an exciting night of food, dancing, henna and items for sale from Nepal. Friday also marks the beginning of Dana’s “Week of Flavors from Around the World,” so be sure to stop by for the first night, featuring dishes from Africa!
Monday, Nov. 17, continues “Flavors from Around the World” at Dana with foods from Europe. There will also be postcard decorating in the Sullivan Student Center by the first-floor fireplace from 4:30-6 p.m. Cozy up with a warm beverage and send a postcard to one of your friends studying off-campus.
Tuesday, Nov. 18, is jam-packed with events, including the SLU Signature Program Early Application Workshop and Meet and Greet! These events are a great way to connect with students who have participated in these programs and gain valuable insights on how to prepare the best application possible and secure an early spot in London, France, Kenya, Spain, NYC or the Adirondacks. The event takes place from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Winston Room. CIIS will also have a flag sticker table in the Student Center at the same time. After heading to Dana for food from North America, make your way back to the Student Center in the Monaco Room from 6 to 7 p.m. for a Global Careers Panel with Alumni around the world!
For an International Dance Workshop hosted by Common Ground Connection, head to the Winston Room from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 19. Lastly, of course, you can’t miss Central and South American cuisine at Dana.
To conclude the week, on Thursday, Nov. 20, a graduate school conversation event will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Student Center, Room 242, featuring Jenny Townsend from the Center for Career Excellence and Dr. Zeyno Ustun. From 5 to 6 p.m., you can make your own spring rolls and egg rolls with dining services in Eben Holden! Spots for this event are limited and filling up quickly, so be sure to visit the link on the CIIS International Education Week website to secure your spot. Dana will also be featuring food from Asia on the same day.
International Education Week is a beloved tradition at St. Lawrence and an initiative of the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Education and Cultural Affairs, so why not be a part of it? Join the intercultural celebration, bring a friend or two to an event, and enjoy. For a full schedule of all the amazing events happening, be sure to check out the CIIS website.
