Creating an Easier Travel Experience for SLU Students

For students who drive themselves or get dropped off it is much easier to pack their car and drive to St. Lawrence University. For students who can’t drive to SLU it can be difficult for them to get to SLU each semester. “I find it to be really expensive and inconvenient because I usually have multiple connections,” said Skylar White ’26. However, students who must fly to SLU each semester will soon have new options courtesy of Breeze Air.  

Starting in October Breeze Air will offer a new flight out of the Ogdensburg International Airport to Dulles International Airport in Washington D.C. According to Breeze Airways, their market data shows that a once-daily flight from Ogdensburg International to Dulles International has the potential to be profitable. Additionally, Breeze was awarded an Essential Air Service contract that federally subsidizes small airports to provide flights that are cost-prohibitive for airlines.  

Throughout the fall Breeze will continues to add new connecting flights out of Washington D.C. for travelers. This will start with a connection to Provo Airport in Utah on October 1^st. Additionally, on November 8^th airfare to South Bend Airport in Indiana and on November 21^st flights to Vero Beach Florida will be available.  

While Breeze will be offering three connecting flights out of Dulles International, they do not have any interline agreements with other airlines. As a result, passengers would have to separately book connecting flights with other lines and pick-up and recheck their baggage. Despite this Breeze will provide larger jet planes out of Ogdensburg, something that is currently not available. Overall, Breeze will give students more options and easier access to the whole country when flying to SLU.
