Saints Sports Weekend Recap
The St. Lawrence University Saints were back in action in many different fall sports this past week. The men’s soccer team has won their past two games against local opponents. On Saturday, September 16, they beat SUNY Potsdam 1-0, with Max Mogul ’25 scoring the only goal of the game in the seventh minute. On Tuesday, September 19, they beat SUNY Canton 4-1, with Mogul scoring twice and Henry Hart ’26 and Eric Edmonds ’27 also scoring. The women’s soccer team tied Oswego State 0-0 on Saturday, and on Tuesday, they beat Union 2-0. Zoe Rogan ‘27 and Emma Reynolds ’23 both scored goals for the Saints against Union.
The field hockey team has won their past two games. On Saturday, they beat Oswego State 2-0, with Maggie Spire ’26 and Caroline Hamilton ’26 scoring goals for the Saints. On Tuesday, the Saints won again, beating Utica 2-0, with Lily Gubbins ’27 and Maggie Spire ’26 scoring goals.
The football team lost their game last weekend against Western New England by a score of 42-21. Daniel Lawther ’25 completed 21-39 passes for 244 yards and two touchdowns for St. Lawrence, with Cole Salyards ’25 and Oskar Baldwin ’25 catching touchdowns from Lawther. Will Lederman ’25 also scored for the Saints. On defense, Grady Harrington ‘24 had eight tackles, Joseph O’Neil ’24 had seven tackles, and Nicholas Giardina ’25 had an interception.
On Sunday, September 17, the Rowing teams competed at the Head of the Hudson. The three Saints boats in the men’s collegiate 4+ finished with times of 10:45.70, 10:52.18, and 10:55.37, while the two Saints boats in the men’s collegiate 8+ finished with times of 10:21.70 and 10:31.88. The two Saints boats in the women’s collegiate 4+ race finished with times of 12:16.19 and 13:30.89, while the two Saints boats in the women’s collegiate 8+ race finished with times of 12:24.66 and 12:36.18.
The women’s golf team finished in sixth place at the Ithaca College Invitational this past weekend with a 731 score. Mary Grace McCann ’25 led the Saints, shooting an 83 on Saturday and a 77 on Sunday for a score of 160 and a seventh-place overall individual finish. The men’s golf team finished in fifteenth place at the Williams Fall Invite this past weekend with a 618 score. Jimmy King ’26 led the Saints, shooting a 75 on Saturday and a 72 on Sunday for a score of 147 and an 11th-place overall individual finish.
The men’s tennis team competed at the Dutchmen Invitational this past weekend, with Adam Heilbronner ’24 advancing to the A singles and doubles semifinals for the Saints. The women’s tennis team competed at the St. Lawrence Invitational this past weekend, and on Sunday, the Saints went 8-0 in singles and 5-0 in doubles.
