Meet The Hill News Editorial Staff

Delaney Smith ’22 is the Editor-in-Chief of The Hill News. She got her journalistic start in her freshman writing seminar, before serving as the Features’ Editor for the next two years. She is graduating as a Global Studies major with a double concentration in African and Middle Eastern economies and cultures. She is also pursuing a minor in Arabic. Outside of the Hill News, Delaney serves as the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Chair of Epsilon Kappa Chi Omega, President and Cofounder of Self Care Club, and enjoys Club Soccer on the weekends. This past summer, she served as the DEI intern to InterAction, the largest coalition of International Non-government Organizations (INGOs) in the country. 

Alexandra Hill ‘23 is Managing Editor of The Hill News, having joined THN as a News and Opinions writer her freshman year working as Opinions Editor her sophomore year. She is an English, French, and mathematics triple major, with a minor in statistics. Outside of The Hill News, Alexandra is Editor-In-Chief of The Laurentian Magazine, president of APO, treasurer and conferences and conventions chair of Circle K International, program manager of SLU’s Volunteer Services, a community assistant, and works as a tutor in the WORD Studio, the PQRC, and the Peer Tutor Program. Alexandra will be studying abroad in Rennes, France, this spring.

Eva Yeo ’22 is Copy-Editor-in-Chief of The Hill News. She began working for THN as a writer and copy-editor her first year at SLU, and took over as Copy-Editor-in-Chief in the fall of 2021 after a gap year at home in Maine. Eva is a Studio Art major with a concentration in photography and ceramics. On campus, you can also find her working at the Barn Good Thrift Store behind the Java House. Outside of school, she simply enjoys living life and being surrounded by the company of good friends.

Iman Maani ’22 is Editor of Opinions of The Hill News. She originally worked as a copyeditor of THN and took over as Editor of Opinions in the Fall of 2021. She has previously worked as a journalist for Weave News and has since become their Digital Communications Coordinator. She is double majoring in Global Studies and Sociology and has published research on audience engagement with the McNair program. She helped spearhead the establishment of the Black Laurentian Initiative and has since worked as a chair.

Emily Harris ’23 is a Digital Editor for the Hill News. She began working for THN as a writer for the Arts and Entertainment page in 2020. Emily is an Asian Studies Combined history major with a government minor. Outside the Hill News, Emily is a member of the Women’s tennis team, is Vice President of the Association for Campus Entertainment, and lives in a theme house on campus called the POWER house. This past summer Emily was a part of the summer semester on campus and then was an intern of the St. Lawrence Office of Admissions. 

Jennifer “Jenny” L’Hommedieu ’23 is a Digital Editor of The Hill News. She began working for THN after her freshmen year and joined the Digital Editing team. Jenny is a Business and Philosophy major, with a minor in Public Health. She plays on the varsity field hockey team at SLU and is a member of Delta Delta Delta. Jenny is studying abroad in Denmark, Copenhagen this spring with hopes to enjoy as many types of Danishes as possible. Outside of THN, Jenny is a huge advocate for Dana and enjoys spending time with her friends.
