Anticipation Rises Over Titus Weekend

Titus Weekend is almost upon us. This Friday, St. Lawrence University’s annual campus-wide Rail Jam will be kicking off the festivities. Hosted by the Outing Club on the Richard F. Brush ’52 Quad, Rail Jam brings a sense of adventure and color to the long and often dreary North Country winter. All this week, students have been prepping their ski gear and gathering retro-themed neon gear in anticipation of going hard and shredding what may be the last snow of the season.

If you have been paying attention during your campus walks past the corner of the Kirk Quad outside Richardson Hall, you have likely watched O.C.-crafted slope grow progressively into the giant mass it currently stands as. Well guess what? It will be even bigger this weekend. So, get hype! There will be a large collection of rails and jumps for you to ski or snowboard to your heart’s desire.

In contrast to last year, when the O.C. had to scour Canton for snow, conditions right now are nothing short of impeccable. Considering the record-breaking quantity of snowfall accumulated this winter, along with almost a foot of fresh snow falling this weekend, I’d anticipate the energy this weekend to be extremely boastful. Hopefully, this will set up Rail Jam 2025 to be one for the books. Whether you plan to hit some rails or simply cheer on your peers, be sure to take in the moment and have some fun this weekend in all the snow, before it all melts and gives way to spring!
