This is a developing story with continuing coverage and updates expected.

Over the weekend, St. Lawrence University’s dining hall was re-imagined as a nightclub. “Late Night Dana,” named after the Dana Dining center, attracted a crowd of over 400 students.

Here’s what went well, and not so well.

Well: Staffing

Overall the event appeared to have been staffed appropriately.

Michael Wimmer ’27, a member of SLU emergency medical services, said there was enough staff. “I think we have enough” said Wimmer before the event, “we have two security officers two EMS three safety team and then the entire student organizations here to probably about like 10 or 15 people to help out.”

Senior Campus Activities and Residential Engagement staff members Maverick Cummings and Kelsey Sixberry were also present.

Not Well: The Tables

Six dining tables positioned in front of the DJ booth were damaged throughout the night.

They typically line the outer edges of the pit, parallel to the cushion sheets.

When asked to comment on the matter, present administrators declined.

It is not yet clear what the cost of the damages totals or where funding for replacements will come from.

Well: Behavior Inside the Venue

Overall, students inside of Dana itself appeared to be well behaved.

There were no reported instances of students becoming too inebriated inside the building.
