The men’s and women’s squash teams took to the courts last weekend to face Hamilton College and the University of Vermont.
A crowd of fans filled bleachers in the Robie Squash Center, watching the men’s team defeat both of their opponents. Now with a record of 11-7, the men defeated both the Continentals and the Catamounts in consecutive matches by a margin of 9-0 and 8-1. Three Saints were able to gain victories against both opponents on Saturday, including sophomores Michael Badali, who won 3-1 and 3-0, and Toma “Heff” Kraft, who finished 3-0 in both matches. First-Year Roger Miller also walked away with two victories under his belt. Individual victories from Ben Ross ’10 and Jermaine Xaba ’12 also helped the Saints improve their record over the weekend, while Thomas Whelan ’10 and Campbell Smith ’12 allowed only one loss in the match against Vermont.
The men will look to finish out the regular season on February 6th at Cornell with matches against Cornell, Franklin and Marshall.
The women’s team with a record of 6-8, did not have as much luck as the men over the weekend. Hamilton College now owns the 16th ranking in CSA standings as they defeated the Saints 9-0 over the weekend. While Meg North ’10 and Frances Robinson ’13 played well for the Saints, the team was unable to pull together a win. The Lady Saints will face Cornell alongside the men on the weekend of February 6th in attempt to finish the season on a high note.
