The Men’s squash team successfully defeated McGill and Queens in their exhibition matches at the Robie Squash Center this weekend.
The Saints had two eight man teams against both visitors. The first team, composed of members Scott Phillips ’13, Nick Pearson ’10, Michael Badali ’12, Roger Miller ’13, Russell Woeltz ’13, Dixon Mallory ’12, Pete Montesano ’11 and Campbell Smith ’12 defeated Queen’s 6-2 and McGill 7-1. The second team including members Amay Merchant ’13, Jermaine Xaba ’12, Tyler Stout ’11, Thomas Kraft ’12, Ben Ross ’10, Thomas Whelan ’10, DJ Brinkworth ’13 and Austin Carpenter ’12 also thrashed both opponents 6-2.
Phillips, Pearson, Badali, Miller and Montesano all went 2-0, shutting out both opponents. The Saints’ second team was just as successful, as members Merchant, Stout, Kraft, Ross, Whelan and Brinkworth also won both of their matches.
The Saints’ are looking forward to a competitive season, having a difficult schedule in the Liberty League. They officially begin their season hosting a Liberty League Tournament over Thanksgiving Break. During this tournament, the Saints will face Vassar, Hobart, and Rochester.
The Saints’ next match will be against Toronto on November 14 in the Robie Squash Center.
